One hundred and eleven Pakistani Christians were arrested in March following the lynching of two Muslim men wrongly thought to be involved in killing 17 Christians and church bombings. 30 prisoners have now been released and International Christian Concern announced on Tuesday that the 30 men and boys had been subjected to torture and merciless beatings by police officers in an attempt to extract confessions out of them. Many of the detained were innocent. In early April, 16 Christians were indicted for the murder of the two Muslim men and 12 indicted for damage to state property. This incident is the tip of the iceberg of the discrimination and persecution that religious minorities endure - from indentured servitude, forced conversions to kidnapping for ransom. The most recent atrocity happened last weekend when a 14-year-old Christian boy was beaten and set on fire after answering truthfully when he was asked by Muslim men if he was a Christian. See:

An anonymous donor has given £1.5 million in an ‘ordinary-looking envelope’ to Bath Abbey to help with its £18 million restoration scheme. The donation is the largest the Abbey has ever received from a private individual. The donor explained that the main reason behind the gift was that he was: ‘much impressed by the care and the consultation which has been put in by the Abbey, which is such a vital part of Bath's future.’ He continues by saying that: ‘This generation has a solemn duty to ensure the Abbey is fit and able to carry out its service to the city and the community for the next hundred years.’ The money will go to the Abbey's £19.3 million Footprint project, aimed at stabilising the building's collapsing floor and introducing an under-floor heating system using Bath's famous hot springs as an energy source. It will also improve the Abbey's visitor facilities.

Councillors in Lowestoft have rejected a licensing application for the opening of a Sex Entertainment Venue in the town centre. The case was supported by the Christian Legal Centre. This was the third licensing application for a Sex Entertainment Venue to be heard by Lowestoft councillors in a period of just 12 months. In February 2014, local residents expressed concern after a licence was granted for the opening of a sex club in the town, despite strong opposition from members of the Lowestoft community. After several months, it transpired that the proposed venue would no longer go ahead. However, in autumn 2014, a second application was made for the opening of a lap dancing club in the town centre, which was also rejected after residents, businesses and churches objected and three petitions were submitted. A third application was then made, this time for a sex shop in the town. But earlier this year, councillors rejected it after the Christian Legal Centre again supported local residents in opposing the plans.

230 of us gathered in at The Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick in mid-March for our three day The Power of His Presence conference. There was a real sense of God mobilising all who stand with us in prayer – not just those in Swanwick.
Our key theme was God’s presence. We were delighted to have Malcolm Duncan, from Goldhill Baptist Church with us – we deeply appreciate his openness, his depth of knowledge, his partnership with us, his love of God and his Northern Irish humour. He took us back to 2 Kings 19:29–31 when God speaks of His provision for Israel. He linked this with the presence of God – He fills us constantly with His spirit – day by day – moment by moment. In Exodus 33 Moses pleads with God –“If your presence will not go with us do not let us go from here.” Jesus gives the great commission in Matthew 28 calling us to make disciples – and promising that he will be with us always.

At the conference mentioned above, we commissioned our friends, Colin and Chrissie Greaves from Cumbria to run with the World Prayer Centre Teams.

Are you struggling in your local community?  WPC Teams respond to invitations from local churches, missions and prayer networks.  We come and work together with local Christians to listen and understand the local situation.  We serve communities by helping to strengthen, encourage and support local leaders and ministries, ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit and carrying His presence, to spark change.

Should you join a WPC Team?  Our teams will help you to grow in your faith and prayer life.  You will be able to explore and exercise your ministry gifts within a safe team setting.  You will experience a deeper level of prayer and worship and God’s presence.

If you would like to invite a WPC Team to your community or you would like to find out more about joining a team, contact Colin & Chrissie on 0791 368 6364 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In the book of Numbers, trumpets were used to gather leaders, assemble the people, move the people forward, sounds an alarm for war and celebrate God's goodness. We feel that God has specifically told us to blow a trumpet in the land, gather His people together and worship Him in the heart of the nation. We invite you to join us! We are gathering in the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, on SATURDAY 4 JULY to blow a trumpet in and over the nation. Click the link on the red banner below to order your tickets.

Come and join the WPC Team

The WPC workload is increasing – and this gives us the opportunity to bring some volunteers on board. We will be needing help in the lead up to and preparation for Trumpet Call. We also want prayer researchers to help us find credible and accessible prayer material, primarily form the UK and Europe. This is a great opportunity to work with us for 1 – 3 days a week as we see the increased demand and a growing momentum for prayer resources. Please contact Laurence by replying to this e-News for more information.
